Therefore, your performance has changed. You have begun to use your breath. Your are with your eyes open. Your body perfectly relaxed. You are dependent on your simple, exactly timed breath. The counter-contraction.....you are living it. What happens in my body?

about

The Baltic Connection
is a surprising new international project with creative
musicians of different generations, initiated by a few artists
even before the pandemic.
The music of the Baltic Connection can be described as
eclectic. The group shamelessly switches from composed
to freely improvised parts and new forms are created, live,
with structures from different musical fields; individual
contributions of the members.
In concert, the group likes to use graphic scores that leave
a lot of leeway.
Currently the main composer of the Baltic Connection is
Markus Breuss, and the current formation of the group is a
quartet consisting of:

Markus Breuss: trumpet, small objects, «conduction», etc
Klaudija Indriliūnaitè: guitars, electronics, voice, etc
Deividas Skridaila: electric bass, fx, percussion, etc
Dirk Wachtelaer: drums, percussion, etc.

and on Whispers of the Unpredictable
Marius Paulikas: electronics

On July 30, 2022, after months of networking, the group
made a sensational debut at the International Festival
Braille Satellit in Lithuania

Markus Breuss
is a Swiss composer and trumpeter of contemporary music
and (Free) Jazz. His first influences are those of Sun Ra,
Alban Berg, Karlheinz Stockhausen and Don Cherry.
He has collaborated, among others with, Llorenç Barber,
Fátima Miranda, Malcom Goldstein and Christian Marclay
and is the (co)founder of the groups Clónicos, OCQ, and
Faktor Bossar (with Tsukiko Amakawa).
He is a member of the FOCO, a Madrid-based orchestra of
improvisers, which has collaborated with Fred Frith and
William Parker among others.
He has premiered works in such places as The National
Auditorium and Museo Reina Sofía (Madrid), New Jazz
Festival Moers (Germany), Airegin Jazz Club
(Yokohama/Japan), MACBA (Museum of Contemporary Art
of Barcelona) and Juan Miró Foundation (Barcelona),
Copenhagen International Jazz Festival (Denmark), or at
the International Theater festival Salzburg (Austria).
In Huesca he opened the Spanish concert of the SUN RA
Arkestra with his solo performance «Awake Hu».

Klaudija Indriliūnaitė
is a powerful young Baltic force who not only stands out for
the creative manipulation of her guitar sound through
electronics, which expands «Pete Cosey's worlds». She
also practices post-Thompson Soundpainting in an
idiosyncratic manner virtually concurrently with her playing.
She studied guitar in Saulius Sondeckis Gymnasium of Arts
in Šiauliai, and earned Bachelor in Jazz from the Vytautas
Magnus University Music Academy. Currently, she studies
contemporary and improvised music at the LMTA, and
takes part in various master courses. The guitarist has
collaborated with such masters of improvised music as
Juozas Milašius and Arnas Mikalkėnas, and also took part
in the LAMT students’ improvised music collective formed
by Mats Gustafsson. She has appeared in Jauna Muzika,
Night of Culture, Night of Museums and Master of Calm
festivals.

Deividas Skridaila
belongs to a new generation of post-Pastorius, postLaswell electric bass players versed also in contemporary
techniques of free improvisation. At this time he is one of
the most in-demand young Lithuanian electric bass players.
Currently he studies Jazz music at the Lithuanian Academy
of Music and Theater. He has played with Klaipėda Jazz
Orchestra and Lithuanian Youth Jazz Orchestra in festivals
like Broma Jazz, Ariogala Jazz, Vilnius Jazz Night Stage
and the contest Vilnius Jazz Young Power.

Dirk Wachtelaer
has been playing drums for more than 30 years. He has
been active in many genres but his main focus has always
been on improvisation and experimentation.
He has played with Paul Schutze, Toshinori Kondo, Stevie
Wishart, Phillip Clemo, and many others.
He recorded three solo albums and leads the ensemble
Vanishing Pictures, creating music that vanishes when you
try to label it.
Dirk is also a sought-after music teacher and even teaches
part-time at the Jazz Academy in Kathmandu (Nepal).

«El Concierto de Baltic
Connection era un huracán. Me
dejé llevar. Había buena
atmósfera, había groove ... »
